History and Hops: 100 Years of the Seaside Aquarium Building
On Thursday, November 21st it’s History and Hops at Seaside Brewing Co. Keith Chandler and Tiffany Boothe of the Seaside Aquarium will be presenting a history of the building; what it was 100 years ago, what it is now, and what the future may hold. They will also be leaning into the history of Natatoriums and their presence on our coast from about 1910 to the early 1930s. Meet at the South Coffenbury Lake parking lot at Fort Stevens State Park for a Coffenbury Lake Bird Hike on Friday, November 16th at 9:00am.
Join a Park Ranger on a guided walk to look for and identify birds. No birding experience is required, and experts are welcome to come share their knowledge. Binoculars are recommended, and there are a few binoculars to use.

Fatal Crash - Northwest Expressway - Lane County
Lane County, Ore 12 Nov 24- On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 4:43 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on the Northwest Expressway, near milepost .5, in Lane County.The preliminary investigation indicated a northbound Acura MDX, operated by Jeffery Alan Milchak (40) of Eugene, left the roadway for unknown reasons, struck a tree, and became fully engulfed. The operator of the Acura (Milchak) was declared deceased at the scene.The highway was impacted for approximately 3.
Coos Bay Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison for Sexually Exploiting a Minor
EUGENE, Ore.—A Coos Bay, Oregon man was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday for taking sexually explicit images of a minor.Willard Verdell Cowan, 61, was sentenced to 300 months in federal prison followed by a lifetime term of supervised release. According to court documents, beginning in early 2021, Cowan offered to talk with a minor who often suffered from panic attacks. Instead, he preyed on the victim’s vulnerability by providing alcohol and marijuana before sexually assaulting the victim.
